My Role in Baptism

Armando Garcia, Deacon

My Name is Armando R. García, sfo (Third Order of St. Francis). I am a Deacon and was ordained to the Sacred Order of Deacons in 1994. Regarding my role with baptism, personally it’s all about “mission”, about following the steps of my early Deacon Brothers (Acts 6, 5-6) and Jesus the Christ: “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit”. “Teaching them to observe all I have commanded you”, Evangelize, Sanctify and mold a Christian Conscience.

I have been called to a mission, “Go and make disciples”. It is my mission to spread that Good News.

I find myself in a unique position to instill a Christian Spirit and mentality in an increasingly secular environment that is rapidly and radically evolving.  It is a wonderful opportunity to speak to parents, godparents and guests at my baptisms and Quinceañeras; I have been blessed with my assignment in St. Camillus where one of my duties is providing the first Holy Sacrament of Baptism and preside over Quinceañeras to LAC+USC Medical Center Employees, people from Los Angeles and outside the Los Angeles County.

I pray to God that I continue to serve the spiritual needs of others through the Word, Sacrament and Charity in St. Camillus and the Catholic Church.  Peace and Good!!!
