Today, we celebrated the life of Fr. Don Kribs, who passed away on September 19, 2015. He was my predecessor as pastor/chaplain. He was here many years and in the past years was in a retirement home. He had been moved to hospice care recently.
He was well loved by medical staff and chaplains. His history of preaching the Gospel and actions on justice was a major part of his life. Medical staff remember him as very tall and a smoker but also someone who would respond to the pager and sit with patients and families for long times. He left when I arrived 1994 so some staff also have retired or have died also who knew him well. We were arrested for justice on several occasions. I spoke to him last year in the context of our 60th anniversary and he was happy with all that we were doing at LAC and the medial complex and outreach.
May he who worked for our patients, for justice and peace… now know eternal peace.
