Sr Dora Hauchecorne, ICM

It saddens me to announce the death of our dear friend Sr. Dora Hauchecorne, ICM in Heverlee, Leuven, Belgium on April, 21, 2016.

I had spoken to her on the telephone a few weeks ago and she had just returned to her religious community’s Motherhouse after two weeks in the hospital with heart problems. I understand from the sisters that she died peacefully surrounded by her community and family. Her funeral will be in Heverlee on Monday, April 25, 2016.

Sr. Dora served here at St Camillus from 1993 to 2005 as a chaplain at LAC+USC Medical Center. She was a joyful presence and was well loved by patients, staff and fellow chaplains. After she retired and returned to Belgium, I was able to visit her a couple of times and for several days she shared with me her favorite places and people in Belgium.

We will celebrate her life on Sunday at our 4:00 pm Peace & Justice mass and on Monday at our daily noon mass. We send our prayers and condolences to her community and family, trusting that Sr. Dora is in the eternal embrace of our God.

In her memory, please go out and make someone smile and be kind to someone who “might not deserve it.”

She joins the other saints of St Camillus who died this past year: Fr. Don Kribbs, Sr.Angela Pacheco, CSJ and Chaplain Rene Valle.
